Real Madrid reached the final of the Spanish Super Cup after beating Atletico Madrid 5-3 after extra time in a breathless Madrid derby in Saudi Arabia. The Madrid derby looked destined for penalties after normal time ended in a 3-3 draw — but Atletico defender Stefan Savic’s own goal and stoppage-time effort by Brahim Diaz proved the difference. Madrid will play Sunday’s final against either Barcelona or Osasuna, who meet on Thursday in Riyadh.
Moreover, Antoine Griezmann became Atletico Madrid’s all-time top scorer after scoring his team’s second goal against Real Madrid to overtake club legend Luis Aragones, it is reported.
