Sri Lankan Ambassador to Myanmar, Janaka Bandara said that Myanmar has agreed to rescue the 56 Sri Lankans being held against their will in a cyber slave camp in Myawaddy, by conducting an immediate operation.
The Ambassador said there were positive responses in the discussions held between the Sri Lankan and Myanmar foreign ministers and between the BIMSTEC ambassadors and Myanmar’s Deputy Foreign Minister.
The Ambassador said Myanmar has agreed to rescue the 56 Sri Lankans being held against their will in a cyber slave camp in Myawaddy.
The Sri Lankans were held against their will in a cyber slave camp and were forced to work for criminal gangs through online.
The Foreign Ministry of Sri Lanka has already rescued at least 32 Sri Lankans who were victims of gangs that committed online scams in Myanmar from 2022 to 2023.
