Retired Lt-Gen Soe Htut has been sentenced to five years in prison by a court martial after being found that he was involved in abusing his position and authority during his tenure as the union minister for home affairs to instruct some companies to provide passport services through the green channel, accepting bribes and failure to take action against the violations of the rules and regulations of staff welfare of the Ministry of Home Affairs and action has been taken against those who were involved in the case at civil courts and those who were found to have violated the police regulations in accordance with the police regulations.
