Myanmar and Russia will jointly held air, sea and underwater defence exercises, and maritime security exercises as part of the MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX), according to a state-owned media.
In the MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX), aircraft, helicopters and vessels from Myanmar Tatmadaw (Navy) and Tatmadaw (Air) will jointly conduct the air, sea and underwater defence drills and maritime security drills.
Officers and other ranks of two navies will conduct navy drills.
Theopening ceremony of the 1st MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX) took place at Thilawa Port in Yangon on 6 November.
Also present at the opening ceremony were Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung, Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai A.EVMENOV, senior naval officers of both countries, Russian military attache and invited guests.
Vessels of Tatmadaw (Navy) and the Russian Pacific Fleet will hold naval drills at the sea 85 miles west of Myeik on Tanintayi Region from 7 to 9 November.
