Chairman of State Administration Council Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing was welcomed with the guard of honour of the Russian Pacific Fleet by a delegation led by Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief Admiral Nikolai A.EVMENOV, who arrived in Myanmar to hold the 1th MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX), this morning.
First, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing arrived at the MITT bridge of Thilawa Port, Yangon, where the welcoming ceremony would take place. The Senior General was welcomed there by Admiral Nikolai A.EVMENOV and Commander-in-Chief (Navy) Admiral Moe Aung.
The Senior General inspected the guard of honour of the Russian Pacific Fleet that welcomed and saluted him by playing the national anthems of the two countries.
When the Senior General and party arrived on board Russian naval vessel Admiral Tributs, they were welcomed by the ship’s 2nd rank captain Igor N.TOLBATOV.
Officials conducted the Senior General and party round the ship and explained the ship’s mechanical facts, weapon system and its power, modern equipment, and points of anti-submarine helicopters. In response the Senior General asked for more information and gave constructive comments.
The Senior General and party posed for group documentary photos on board the naval ship.
The Senior General then signed the visitor’s book of the Admiral Tributs. The Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief and the Commander-in-Chief (Navy) presented a bell and a badge commemorating the opening ceremony of the 1th MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX).
The Senior General presented a commemorative badge of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services to the captain of the naval ship.
The Senior General and the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief exchanged commemorative gifts.
Later, the Senior General and party attended the luncheon held in their honour by the Russian Navy Commander-in-Chief. The Russian naval music band played songs before and during the luncheon.
After the luncheon, the Senior General presented honourary cash award to the music band and foodstuff manufactured by Defence Services Industries of the Tatmadaw and fruits for officers and other ranks of the ship through the ship captain.
When the Senior General left the ship, he was saluted and seen office by the vessel’s guard of honour.
The visiting Russian Pacific Fleet included its commander Captain 1st Rank Aleksei Anciferov and officers and other ranks. During the stay, the Tatmadaw culture troupe and the Russian naval music band will stage joint entertainment programs in commemoration of Myanmar-Russia friendship, the Russian naval personnel will visit the significant places in Yangon, and hold bilateral goodwill sports events and the 1th MYANMAR-RUSSIA MARITIME SECURITY EXERCISE (MARUMEX).
Vessels of Tatmadaw (Navy) and the Russian Pacific Fleet will hold naval drills at the sea 85 miles west of Myeik from 7 to 9 November.
