Illegal trades including timbers, unregistered vehicles and consumer goods worth over Ks- 150 million were seized in four days, according to Anti-Illegal Trade Steering Committee.
Under the supervision of Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee, concerned officials made inspections on trade. Illegal consumer goods at estimated value of Ks-10.285 million without official documents and approximately Ks-30 million worth of one unlicensed 12-wheeler Mitsubishi Fuso truck carrying these goods heading from Mawlamyine to Kyaukpadaung were seized and action was being taken in accordance with the Customs Procedures on 12 September.
Authorities seized a total of 13.9922 tons of illegal assorted timber at estimated value of over Ks-5 million in Bago, Taungoo and Thayawady districts on 15 September and took action under the Forest Law. In addition, unlicensed vehicle at estimated value of Ks-2 million between the 138/3 and 138/4 mile posts on the Yangon-Pyay highway in Nattalin Township and action have been taken in accordance with the Import and Export Law.
Similar, a total of 7.9636 tons of illegal teak doors worth Ks-5,254,788 were seized in Hindatha Township and the action was being taken under the Forest Law. Acting on the tip-off, about Ks-35,478,366 worth of consumer goods that exceeded the Import Declaration (ID) from a Hino Profia 12-wheel truck at estimated value of Ks-25million near No 2 junction of Zayatkwin village in Hlegu Towship were confiscated on 13 September. The action is being taken under the Customs Procedures.
On 14 September, a total of 2.8590 tons of illegal assorted timbers worth Ks-628,700 was captured in Thandwe and Taungup townships of Rakine State. The action is being taken under the Forest Law. Afterwards, an inspection team led by the Myanmar Police Force seized an unlicensed Yamaha FZ motorbike worth Ks- 500,000 in Homalin Township and an unregisterd Kenbo 125 motorbike worth Ks-150,000 in Shwebo Township and took the action under the Export and Import Law.
A combined inspection team under the Magway Region Anti-illegal Trade Task Force confiscated a total of 37.3060 tons of illegal charcoal worth Ks-350,000 from a vehicle at estimated value of Ks-35 million in Natmauk Township. The action has been taken in accordance with the Forest Law.
Morover, the combined investigation team at the Kawkareik (Tadakyoe) Combined Checkpoint captured Ks-1,560,000 worth of cloths that were not declared in the Import Declaration (ID) from a truck and the action has been taken in accordance with the Customs Procedures.
Therefore, 18 arrests at estimated value of Ks-151,358,938 were made on consecutive days from 12 t0 15 September, according to the Anti-illegal Trade Steering Committee.
