Dr Thein Aung Kyaw and Dr Shain Myint Han, orthopedic spine surgeons from Orthopedic Specialist Hospital in Yangon, specialists Dr Naing Lin Oo, Dr Kyaw Lin Lin in cooperation with Professor Kan Min, an orthopedic spine surgeon from the Center for Spinal and Scoliosis Surgery Hospital at the City of Zurich in Switzerland successfully operated on 12 scoliosis patients with Pedicle Screws and Rods Posterior Fixation at the Department of Spine Surgery of the Orthopedic Specialist Hospital in Yangon from 12 to 16 June.
The treatment of scoliosis is carried out by the spine surgeons themselves in the spine surgery department at Orthopedic Specialist Hospital in Yangon or inviting expert spinal surgeons from abroad. Since 2005, an average of 12 patients have been operated on each year, and more than 200 scoliosis patients have been successfully operated to date.
When treatment for scoliosis is started early, they may have fewer problems. Moreover, Myanmar spine surgeons and Swiss Spine Foundation have exchanged medical techniques.
The scoliosis treatment is given at the Mandalay General Hospital and Orthopedic Hospital in Mandalay.
