“Myanmar has paid annual subscription to United Nations Industrial Development Organization-UNIDO to be dutiful as membership and made an effort to cooperate with it,” Vienna-based Permanent Representative to the United Nations Myanmar Ambassador U Min Thein said at the 51st session of Industrial Development Board held in Vienna, Austria.
The 51st session of Industrial Development Board took place at Vienna International Centre from 3 to 6 July.
On the first day, under the 2022 report title of UNIDO director-general, the Myanmar Permanent Representative said that he recognized the supports of UNIDO for economy and social development in member countries through industrial sector based on sustainable development goals.
The technological support, suggestions on policy and programs for capability promotion given by UNIDO are important for sustainable development goals of member countries, especially, emerging countries and least developed ones. Myanmar launched the national-level sustainable development plan in 2018.
Myanmar will strive to meet the sustainable development goals of UN and continue to cooperate with UNIDO, the ambassador added.
At the meeting, they discussed tasks of UNIDO in 2022, promoting of technical assistance for developing countries, matters related to 2024-2025 budget, supporting to succeed the 2023 sustainable development plan, changing the development system of UN, industrial sector which lessens harmful effect on weather, and circular economy.
