A coordination meeting of Steering Committee for organizing a seminar on Building Networks on Preservation and Conservation of Literary Heritages among Lancang-Mekong Area, especially rare materials in Libraries was held at the National Library (Nay Pyi Taw) on 12 June.
The seminar on Building Networks on Preservation and Conservation of Literary Heritages among Lancang-Mekong Area, especially rare materials in Libraries will be organized by Department of Historical Research and National Library of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture with the special fund of Mekong-Lancang cooperation.
Union Minister for Religious Affairs and Culture U Ko Ko said: “The meeting aims to build networks for library professionals who conduct preservation and conservation of literary heritages among Lancang-Mekong area, especially rare materials in libraries, to promote managements on better preservation and conservation, to exchange experiences and knowledge related to preservation and conservation, and to share best ways for preservation and conservation of literary heritages in libraries.”
Papers related to management on preservation and conservation of literary heritages, preparedness of natural disaster for rare materials in libraries, and conservation with the use of digitalization will be read at the seminar.
Mekong-Lancang members Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam will read the papers each.
The Union Minister urged respective sub-committees to conduct collective works for organizing the seminar successfully to conserve in various ways to maintain the rare materials in libraries.
