A delegation led by H.E. Mr. Sholban Kara-Ool, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma, Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, paid a courtesy call on Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing at the parlour of Panglong Yeiktha in Taunggyi on 30 May.
During the call, the deputy chairman of the State Duma told the Senior General that Russia will provide assistance for holding free and fair elections.
They frankly discussed the potential for promotion of existing friendship on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Myanmar-Russia diplomatic relations, possibilities for enhanced cooperation for mutual benefits between the two countries in various sectors, cooperation for development of transportation and electricity generation sectors of Myanmar.
Moreover, they discussed sending scholarship students from Myanmar to the Russian Federation for human resources development including science and technology, assistance of the Russian Federation for areas hit by very severe cyclonic storm Mocha, efforts to promote tourism between Myanmar and Russia in order to increase people-to-people engagements, increased cooperation between Myanmar and Russia in multiple sectors, the meeting between the Union Election Commission of Myanmar and the delegation and assistance for holding free and fair elections to be offered by the Russian Federation during the election period.
Also present at the call together with the Senior General were Deputy Prime Minister Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, Chief of General Staff (Army, Navy, Air) General Maung Maung Aye and officials while the deputy chairman was accompanied by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Myanmar H.E. Mr Nilolay LISTOPADOV and officials of the State Duma.
After the discussions, the Senior General and the deputy chairman exchanged gifts and posed for documentary photographs.
