Myanmar Delegation led by U Chan Aye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs attended the 29th ASEAN-China Senior Officials’ Consultation which was held in Shenzhen, China on 25 May 2023.
The Meeting was co-chaired by H.E. Mr. Nong Rong, Assistant Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China and U Chan Aye, Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar as the current coordinator of the ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations. The Meeting was also attended by Senior Officials from ASEAN Members States, Senior Officials from ASEAN Secretariat as well as was participated by Timor Leste’s Delegation as the observer country.
The Meeting discussed the matters pertaining to the ASEAN-China Cooperation, ASEAN led mechanism such as ASEAN plus Three, East Asia Summit and ASEAN Regional Forum, future direction of ASEAN-China Dialogue Relations, the implementation of the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the South China Sea (DOC) and Consultations on the Code of Conduct in the South China Sea (COC), preparations for the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference (PMC) +1 Session with China and 26th ASEAN-China Summit, and the China’s initiatives.
On 24 May 2023, Permanent Secretary U Chan Aye separately met H.E. Mr. Nong Rong, Assistant Minister for Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and discussed the matters pertaining to strengthening of Myanmar–China cooperation at the United Nations and international arena, bilateral assistance and support of China on Myanmar’s efforts in repatriation of the displaced persons from Rakhine State, provision of emergency aids and relief items from China to those affected by Cyclone Mocha in Myanmar, and exchange of High-Level Officials’ working visits between the two countries to enhance the existing bilateral cooperation.
