Conducting the training courses on basic and advanced sports and self-defence to Tatmadaw members from the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) aims to emerge selected Tatmadaw athletes and turn out outstanding soldier athletes to be selected players of Myanmar national team so as to contribute to enhancement of Myanmar’s sport standard, Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Vice-Senior General Soe Win said.
He made this comment during his inspection of the Defence Services Self-Defence and Sports Institute in Yemon Cantonment on May 2023.
In his instructions, the Vice-Senior General said that conducting the training courses on basic and advanced sports and self-defence to Tatmadaw members from the Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) aims to emerge selected Tatmadaw athletes and turn out outstanding soldier athletes to be selected players of Myanmar national team so as to contribute to enhancement of Myanmar’s sport standard.
In turning out the selected players, it is necessary to conduct training for athletes to have systematic skills and techniques as well as advanced techniques for international Olympic sports events, the Vice-Senior General said.
The Vice-Senior General and party viewed training of trainees in Taekwondo, boxing and volleyball events in the gymnasium and training sessions for trainees in the football ground and coordinated necessary measures. Then, the Vice-Senior General viewed round the training aid for sports events and gave necessary instructions to officials.
On arrival at Defence Services Orthopaedic Specialty Hospital (500-bed), the Vice-Senior General and party were welcomed by the commandant and officials.
The Vice-Senior General viewed round officers, other ranks and families receiving medical treatments at the hospital, asked after their health conditions and presented foodstuffs and assistance.
The Vice-Senior General presented cash award for health staff serving duties at the hospital to officials.
