China is the second largest investor for Myanmar, U Min Zaw Oo, deputy director-general of Myanmar Investment and Companies Administration Department said at the ceremony of China-Myanmar Economic Cooperation.
“According to the statistics, China is the second largest investor in Myanmar. It only means the direct investment. 583 Chinese companies are allowed as direct investments. As of them, 90 percent are industrial businesses. It can be said that China is a partner standing at number one for Myanmar,” he said.
As China is mainly making its investments in the industrial businesses, they can support in creating job opportunities for Myanmar workers.
The country earned more than US$-21.7 billion from the investments of over 580 Chinese companies, generating over 23 percent of total foreign investments.
