Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Vice-Senior General Soe Win and Director of Operation of the International Committee of the Red Cross discussed resumption of visits to prisoners and their families, which has been suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19 on 8 March, according to the Information Team of SAC.
Vice Chairman of the State Administration Council Vice-Senior General Soe Win received a delegation led by Director of Operation of the International Committee of the Red Cross Mr. Martin Scheuepp at the parlour of the Diplomat Hall of the Office of the Chairman of the SAC in Nay Pyi Taw at 3 pm today.
During the call, they frankly discussed provision of humanitarian assistance to internally displaced persons, the needs to monitor the provision of aids offered by the ICRC so that they arrive in the hands of people who actually need them and resumption of visits to prisoners and their families, which has been suspended due to the outbreak of COVID-19.
Also present together with the Vice-Senior General were union ministers Lt-Gen Soe Htut, Dr Thet Khaing Win and Dr Thet Thet Khaing and Deputy Minister Maj-Gen Aung Lin Tun. The director of operations was accompanied by ICRC Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific Ms.Christine Cipolla and ICRC Resident Representative Ms. Elean Ajmone Sessera.
