A workshop on issuing anti-false and fake news guidelines of ASEAN region states took place at Borobudur Hotel in Jakarta, Indonesia on 2 March.
At the workshop, representatives from ASEAN region states discussed country-wise situations adopted to issue anti-false and fake news guidelines.
Deputy Permanent Secretary U Myint Kyaw from the Ministry of Information discussed to add the situations Myanmar faced due to false and fake information in the guidelines.
Moreover, he discussed to combat fake and false news not to harm people and to protect human right, fake and false news are hindrances for the future development and cooperation of ASEAN region, and efforts being made by Myanmar to flow true news into local as well as abroad.
The workshop will be held till 3 March. The resolution made by this workshop will be approved at the ASEAN high-level officials and ministers-level meeting to be held in coming June and will be adopted as anti-false and fake news guidelines.
Present at the workshop were Myanmar, Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, the Philippines, Thailand and the office of the Secretary-General of ASEAN, and the remaining ASEAN region states attended via online.
