Chairman of State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing met with district- and township level departmental officials and town-elders in Kyaukphyu District in Rammarwadi Hall in Kyaukphyu and discussed regional economic development.
Also present at the meeting together with the Senior General were Joint-Secretary Lt-Gen Ye Win Oo, members Admiral Tin Aung San and Dr Mu Htan of the SAC, union ministers, Chief Minister of Rakhine State U Htein Lin, senior officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services, Commander of the Western Command Maj-Gen Htin Latt Oo, district- and township level officials and town-elders in Kyaukphyu District and officials from the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone.
First, officials reported salient points of the Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone to the Senior General.
After hearing reports, the Senior General said it is the first time to meet and deliver address to officials in Kyaukphyu District and discussions were made with departmental officials, town-elders and businesspeople in Sittwe. He added that nation building tasks must be carried out without losing sight of objective and goals.
Education is being promoted to develop educated human resources. As development of human resources is essential for prosperity of the country, education is being promoted. As wisdom and technical know-how can be achieved through school educations, it is necessary to encourage all school-aged children to go to school. Therefore, efforts must be exerted to nurture intellectuals in Kyaukphyu, the Senior General continued.
Regarding Kyaukphyu SEZ, Kyaukphyu deep-sea port project started for promotion of foreign trade. Plans are also being carried out to establish an industrial zone. In implementing national development projects, all-round consideration is necessary in short- and long-term interests of economic projects that should be suitable to each region. The Kyaukphyu SEZ project must be successful in the interests of the State.
Encouragement is being given for MSMEs. Operating local businesses needs to rely on domestic raw materials. It is necessary to manufacture value-added products from raw materials derived from agriculture and livestock breeding. Therefore, agricultural and livestock breeding activities should be successful in Kyaukphyu region for regional development. The State is providing capital investments for MSMEs, said the Senior General.
Then, the Senior General and party went to Kyaukphyu Education Degree College.
