Chairman of the State Administration Council Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, accompanied by members of his entourage, Ayeyawady Region Chief Minister U Tin Maung Win, South-West Command Commander Brig-Gen Kyi Khaing and officials, visited and paid homage to the historic Maha Makuhtaranthi Hsandawshin Myat Maw Tinzun Pagoda in Zigyaing Village-tract, Hainggyikyun Township, Ayeyawady Region, this morning.
First, the Senior General and party were warmly welcomed by district and township level departmental officials, townspeople and members of the pagoda board of trustees. Next, the Senior General and party paid homage and offered flowers, water and oil light to the pagoda.
Then, the Senior General and party went round the pagoda clockwise and paid homage to the pagoda. The Senior General viewed the expansion and upgrading of the pagoda platform. After hearing reports by officials, he gave instructions on systematic calculations in repair and upgrading tasks and the need to take systematic measures as it is the ancient and historic pagoda with significant religious buildings.
The region chief minister reported on work progress in the pagoda platform expansion and upgrading project and situations to be seen upon project completion.
The Senior General stressed the need to pay attention to keeping original styles in the project as the pagoda is ancient and historic and keep track of records on the construction work and called for systematic work in anticipation of its long-term existence. He also spoke of the need for considering natural disasters and ensuing the pagoda is revered as ever.
Then, the Senior General and party viewed the documentary photos on the repairs and upgrading of the pagoda in successive eras, photos on ongoing expansion and upgrading the pagoda platform, which is now just about 4 feet wide, for the convenience of visitors and a scale model, and left necessary instructions.
The Senior General and party went round in the precincts of the pagoda and viewed the keeping of the ancient religious structures. He gave instructions to officials on the need to ensure the original works are not harmed when it comes to doing maintenance and repair tasks, and carry out the work systematically as the historical records are crucial.
Later, The Senior General made a multi-purpose cash donation for the pagoda to the officials of the pagoda board of trustees.
