15th Myanmar Traditional Htamane-making Festival was held at Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon at 4 pm today.
24 teams comprising with departments under Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustee, religious associations, sculptors and partnership associations competed in the festival.
The Htamene Festival can be resumed this year due to COVID-19 pandemic and political situation. The participants actively took part in 15th Myanmar Traditional Htamane competition with a song “Myanmar Pyithar”.
Chairman of Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustee said: “As of 24 teams, first, second, third, fourth, fifth and consolation prizes, totaling six prizes will be awarded and Ks-1 million for first prize, Ks-700,000 for second prize, Ks-600,000 for third prize, Ks-500,000 for fourth prize, Ks-400,000 for fifth prize and Ks-300,000 for consolation prize.”
Htamane will be offered to Buddha images at prayer halls on the platform of the pagoda where Ovada Patimokha day ceremony will be observed at 5 am.
At 6 am, dried rations and Htamane will be offered to 62 members of the Sangha, and at 7 am, the merit sharing ceremony will take place at Chanthagyi prayer hall.
The well wishers who want to donate at the Htamane festival can make contact with Shwedagon Pagoda Board of Trustee Donation recipient places set at the Pagoda for Htamane Festival as of 20 January.
Anyone who can donate 55,000 Ks for one pan and Htamane will be given to the donors who donated Ks-10,000 and above as a lovely gift.
