Myanmar’s first elephant museum is opened in Yangon Zoological Garden in Yangon, according to the zoo.
The museum aims to protect wild elephants lived in dense forests, mitigate human-elephant conflict, raise people’s awareness on the killings of wild elephants and illegal trading of wild elephants and their parts.
People can interestingly learn the habitats and habits of Asian elephants, a diverse array of habitats of wild elephants in Myanmar, their behaviors and the detailed histories of wild elephants.
In additions, the visitors can observe elephants’ bones and body parts, equipments, fossils, elephant skeleton pictures, tusks, Myanmar traditional handicrafts which are made of elephant’s body parts.
The museum exhibits books to learn about elephants and showcase the nature of elephants.
The museum has been funded by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), Myanmar.
