Under the G to G agreement between Myanmar and Bangladesh, Myanmar exported over 165,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh till 2 January, 2023 and the remaining 30,000 tons of rice will be delivered by the deadline, according to the Ministry of Commerce.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Myanmar and Bangladesh on the rice trade, companies are to export 200,000 tons of rice to Bangladesh with Chinese Yuan payment between October 2022 and January 2023. The FOB prices were 2788.56 Yuan per ton, according to the MoC.
By the contract, Myanmar will export white rice (five percent broken) to Bangladesh. The Export/Import Division of the Trade Department issued export licences worth over 540 million Yuan for over 40 companies to convey 191,700 tons of rice to Bangladesh.
Myanmar and Bangladesh inked a MOU on rice trade under the government-to-government pact in 2022 for the third time. The two countries signed the sales contracts in 2017 for first time and 2021 for second time.
