The Office of Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services released a statement on the ceasefire and perpetual peace in the country on 31 December.
In a gesture of hailing the 75th Anniversary (Daimond Jubilee) Independence Day, the announcement has been made after Tatmadaw ceased all military operations for four years in order to carry out COVID-19 prevention, containment and treatment measures and for the success and effectiveness of the processes for restoring perpetual peace in the country.
The Tatmadaw ceased all military operations in all areas for one year to implement practical peace talks processes and to achieve perpetual peace the entire people desire, excluding the acts that could harm the security and administrative mechanism of the country in additional to defending the Union and administrative affairs, the statement stated.
