The Central Bank of Myanmar has no plan to issue new paper notes and to change its reference foreign currency exchange rate to Ks-2,100 per US dollar, according to the CBM statement released on 30 December.
CBM vice Governor Dr. Lin Aung gave the remark at the coordination meeting of banknotes distribution and management matters held on 27 December in Nay Pyi Taw that CBM is making concerted efforts to ensure maximum security of banknotes.
The statement was made due to some rumors that appeared based on the remark of CBM vice Governor Dr. Lin Aung.
Some unscrupulous people in foreign currency exchange rate of Myanmar made false news that the reference exchange rate will be increased to Ks-2,100 per US dollar.
The news that currents reference exchange rate will be increased to Ks-2,100 per US dollar on 15 December is just a rumor and dollars are continued to sell in the market, according to the CBM statement.
