Measures are being taken to increase electricity production in various means to meet the electricity needs of the people and the Ministry of Electric Power has established power line towers and plants which contributed more electricity to people.
NUG-proxy PDF terrorists blew up the 230 KV 100 MVA Myawady power plant that contributed power to Myawady, Kawkaraik, Kyarinnseikgyi and Kyonedoe and surrounding areas in Karen State at 1.30 on 16 December 2022. Due to their attack, two (50) MVA transformers, one (20) MVA Shut Reactor, two gas circuit breaker, two lightning arrester, two potential transformers, power cables, power controlled building and generator building were destroyed.
It is reported that the electricity has gone off because the power line towers and plant destroyed in the attack. So, 56,363 electricity consumers in Myawady, Kawkaraik, Kyarinnseikgyi and Kyonedoe and surrounding areas experienced power cut. This led to delay of commodity flow at Myanmar-Thailand border trade gate and trade zone. Efforts are being made to repair the power plant that was destroyed in the attack to restore power as quickly as soon as possible.
With the aim of destroying the infrastructure of the State, PDF terrorists blew up and set fire to transmission towers, power plant, office and staff housings and committed 210 attacks. However, the Ministry of Electric Power continues to make repeated repair works in collaboration with security personnel in concerned areas.
