Although Myanmar is generating 7,287 megawatts of electricity, it could produce 3,064 megawatts at present due to blowing up, Union Minister for Electric Power U Thaung Han said on 14 December.
Although the electricity production is 7,287 MW from various sources in electricity generating sector of Myanmar, it could produce 3,046 MW due to water storage to generate electricity at various hydropower plants in coming summer, lower production of natural gas and supply of electricity lessens as terrorists blow up the power line towers. The ministry contributes the electricity to states and regions based on the consuming of electricity.
In additions, NUG and PDF terrorists blow up the power line towers which are contributing electricity, Union Minister U Thaung Han explained.
There are requirements due to imbalance of amount of electricity production and amount of electricity consumed and repairing works for destroyed power line towers are being undertaken to meet the requirements. Moreover, measures are being taken to produce electricity in the designated years in implementing the new projects, the Union Minister said.
Collective works are needed to pay the full charges for electricity bills and respective officials need to take care of their security in collecting the bills, he added.
