A YouTube-like video sharing and live streaming platform MTube is being tested in Myanmar, Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn said during the meeting held with director U Kyaw Swa Min and members from United Info-Sec Company Limited on 1 September.
The decision came after some statements and news were restricted and removed from social media platforms, he said, adding that the restricting and removing of the statements and news on social media are an act of bulling using technology.
The Information Ministry has broadcast more channels via MRTV as well as has expanded media industries using social network. Media is important in every sector and MRTV application for English version was designed but all were removed from social media platforms. It can be said that this is a violation of the people’s right. We are making an effort to release true news and to counter fake news.
