- Out of compassion for the people of the country affected by the Mandalay earthquake on 28 March and to facilitate swift humanitarian and reconstruction operations and in view of peace and stability, the Tatmadaw has already declared a temporary cessation of military operations from 2 to 22 April 2025.
- Currently, the state is intensively engaging in reconstruction and rehabilitation undertakings in the earthquake-affected areas, while international rescue teams and medical teams are arriving in Myanmar and providing necessary assistance and international aid is being sent.
- In carrying out rehabilitation and reconstruction activities with dynamic efforts, damaged government buildings, public residences and transport facilities must be restored and agriculture-based production industry must be promoted. The affected areas will return to normal at the earliest time through the inclusive strength of the ethnic people of the Union.
- In this regard, the Tatmadaw extends the temporary ceasefire period from 23 to 30 April 2025 in order to facilitate rehabilitation and reconstruction activities in earthquake-affected areas, to serve the interest of the nation and people with greater acceleration, to achieve genuine and long-lasting peace and in view of peace and stability.
- During this period, all ethnic armed organizations and other armed groups are warned against disrupting and destroying public transportation and communication routes, endangering civilian lives and property, attacking security forces’ bases that are enforcing the rule of law or command headquarters and mobilizing or regrouping troops and expanding territories that may undermine peace. Any violation will prompt necessary defensive measures by the Tatmadaw to protect the people.
