On March 28, 2025, at 12:51:02 PM Myanmar time, a very strong earthquake measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale struck Myanmar. The national mourning period from March 31 to April 6 untail 7 day has been declared as a national mourning day in memory of the loss of life and damage, and the national flag is flown at half-mast in government ministries and offices.
