Pakistan has pledged significant aid to Myanmar after the March 28 earthquake. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed sympathy during a phone call with Senior General Min Aung Hlaing. He confirmed Pakistan’s commitment to helping Myanmar recover.
Pakistan will send 52 tons of humanitarian aid, including 35 tons of emergency supplies via two flights. The aid includes medical supplies and ready-to-eat food, all arriving within 24 hours.
The earthquake has caused major damage. There are 2,065 confirmed deaths, over 3,900 injured, and around 270 people still missing. The disaster occurred on Friday, the Islamic holy day, affecting about 500 worshippers in mosques.
Both leaders emphasized strong bilateral relations and agreed to boost cooperation in disaster response. Senior General Min Aung Hlaing thanked Pakistan for its support. Rescue teams are working to locate the missing and aid survivors.
Myanmar is coordinating relief efforts, with support from friendly nations. Pakistan’s swift response highlights the importance of global solidarity in crises.
