Myanmar received over US$-4.4 billion worth of foreign investments from February 2021 to date, according to the data released by the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA).
The country received US$-4.461 billion worth of foreign investments from 1 February 2021 to end of October 2022.
From 1988-1989 fiscal year to date, over 50 countries invested in Myanmar within 34 years and Myanmar permitted about US$-95 billion worth of foreign investments including Thilawa Special Economic Zone, according to the DICA.
Myanmar received only over US$-36 billion worth of foreign investments within 22 years from 1988 to 2011. The inflow of foreign investment significantly increased the periods after 2010. In the term of President U Thein Sein, the country earned more than US$-27 billion worth of foreign investments within five years from 2011-2012 FY to 2015-2016 FY.
In the tenure of NLD government, over 24 billion worth of foreign investments were earned from 2016-2017 FY to January 2021.
Myanmar permitted foreign investments for oil and natural gas sector, electricity sector, manufacturing sector, transportation and communication sector, real estate sector, hotels and tourism sector, mine sector, livestock and fisheries sector, industry sector, agricultural sector, construction sector and service sector.
