A wind power project that can generate 30 KW will be implemented in Rakhine State in two years, according to the Rakhine State Government.
The Power China which is a Chinese company introduced about wind power project to Rakhine State Government to launch the project on 5 December.
As the power requirement is large for Kyaukphyu Special Economic Zone and deep-sea port and more infrastructures are needed, the project will contribute benefits in the state, Attorney General U Hla Thein, a spokesperson of Rakhine State Government, told the MT news agency.
The feasibility study will be carried out in offshore and onshore to launch the project for one year. If the project site is fixed, the construction time will be one year. So, it is expected to complete the project for two years.
“The Power China Company met with the state government and reported on feasibility study to generate wind power in Rakhine State. We submitted to the Ministry of Energy. The wind power project can generate 30 KW and will use renewable energy which can avoid environmental pollution. The project is not a joint venture with the government and the Chinese company solely invested and will sell the power through negotiation with the government. They will pay tax and sell power if Kyaukphyu SEZ will need the power,” he said.
