“Trust building is needed in implementing the peace process and individuals have to make gives and takes,” Chairman of Restoration Council of Shan State (RCSS) General Yawd Serk said in his closing speech during the meeting with State Administration Council held on 30 August to 1 September.
General Yawd Serk said: “During the three-day meeting, the RCSS delegation presented the views on the peace roadmap of RCSS to solve the current political problems, establish a Union based on federalism, adopt the federal system, and undertake regional development, socio-economic development of the people.”
“The SAC pondered whether Table (1) of legislative list of the Union, Table (2) of legislative list of State or Region, agreements of Union accord part (1),(2)and (3) are aligned with the rules of 2008 Constitution or not and discussed the implementation works.” he added.
“Mutual trust building that both sides must practise is the key to step-by-step implementation of the peace process. Compromises will lead to win-win situation result for both parties. We should hold both the formal and informal peace talks regularly. The landscape of the negotiation should be appropriate for both sides to achieve positive results,” he urged.
“Moreover, we must make better preparations for coming peace talks by recognizing the proposals of both sides and we have to pave the way for a broader participation in the peace talks as it is not an individual concern.” he continued.
