Leader of Information Team of the State Administration Council Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun clearly disclosed that, at present, there is currently no reason to arrange a meeting between former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Daw Aung San Suu Kyi.
State Administration Council Chairman Prime Minister Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and former Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen held a meeting via video conferencing on May 7th (yesterday),
The statement was made as stated above after it was reported in foreign media that Cambodia’s former Prime Minister Hun Sen requested the Myanmar government to hold a meeting with the imprisoned Daw Aung San Suu Kyi via video conferencing.
SAC spokesperson Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun publicly denied the request. “We are going to avoid matters which can delay or disturb future processes,” he said.
During the meeting between SAC chairman and former Prime Minister Hun Sen, the friendship between the two countries, ASEAN regional affairs and about Cambodia’s election experience, which has recently completed its election, and recommendations for the upcoming election in Myanmar, was discussed and the official page of former Prime Minister Hun Sen did not mention the request to meet with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi,” said Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun.
