India-based media reported today that three women, including two Myanmar nationals, were arrested in Mizoram state, India for possession of more than 5 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Yesterday, the Narcotics Control and Prevention Department of Mizoram State, A 32-year-old man named Lemu Ankema was arrested for possession of 11 grams of heroin at a guest house in the Chetlan area. According to the subsequent investigation of the man, three women related to him living in Aizawl were also examined, and more drugs were seized.
The three women’s residences were raided and searched by the police after midnight last night. They found 44-year-old KC Dingmawi from Zokhuttha village, Changfai district, and two Myanmar nationals, Le Than Pari (54 years old) and Tilu Anthan Pari (39 years old) living in Aizawl, 109 grams of heroin. Authorities arrested 5.888 kilograms of methamphetamine, the equivalent of 60,000 pills, along with what appeared to be drugs brought into the country.
All those arrested have been charged under the Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Act, and if convicted, can be sentenced to 10 to 20 years in prison and a fine of 1 to 2 lakh rupees.
