The 2023 Africa Cup of Nations has produced unexpected results due to the stubborn defense of the lower teams since the group stage, with FIFA’s upper teams crashing out from the knockout stage.
Morocco, ranked 13 in the FIFA world, lost by 2 goals to South Africa in yesterday’s match. During Morocco’s 1-0 down, they were awarded a penalty in the 85th minute, but Hakimi’s shot hit the post. South Africa got another goal from a free kick near the end of the game. In the other match, Mali beat Burkina Faso 2-1.
Including FIFA World Rank 20, current AFCON champions Senegal, Algeria (30), Tunisia (28), and Egypt (33) were also satisfied with the knocked-out phase.
